Principle of Mixing
The material inside the mixer undergoes forced convection, the particles are lifted along the circumference and thrown radially inwards towards the central shaft and axially in either direction along the drum axis. The geometric pattern gives a sequential motion to the particles, the degree of agitation further controls the forced convection. The design of the equrptnent ensures there are no static zones and ingredients everywhere within the mixer are subjected to mixing.
In some applications high speed choppers are installed, they produce localized partial fluidization in the powder bed, the cutting edges prevent formation of lumps and agglomerates.
