Industrial Double Cone Blenders/ Cascaders are used when the application demands closed system of operation with no hold up volume after discharging the product and preferred more when the cleaning of mixers acquires greater significance. Double Cone Blender is highly recommended in many industries for products that are granular or friable and have a tendency to break. Double Cone Blender/ Cascader is generally more economical when compared to most mixers and combined with the above stated features its wide usage is self-explanatory. Double Cone Blender/ Cascader provides a very gentle mixing where the raw materials slide over each other in layers and due to the cross-sectional geometry result in a continuously changing composition which progresses towards uniformity of entire product with the increase in mixing time. This Double Cone Blender/ cascader have many variants all working on same principles they are named as per the geometry viz. double cone mixers, 'V' blenders, 'Y' Blenders, Octagonal Blenders, etc. Double Cone Blender/ Cascader is also used for drying of product or for solvent recovery under vacuum giving a more cleaner economical solution for the operation, cleaning in place is very simple with almost no holdup volume on discharge and no dead zones during mixing, ideal for converting into GMP units with no sharp corners and crevices for bacterial growth and no moving parts inside.
However there are models which are fitted with choppers or lump breakers that are installed when the product has a tendency to form cake or lumps under gravity or due to the presence of moisture, this phenomenon gets enhanced during the drying operation in certain cases. It is also useful for mixing of abrasives as the gentle mixing action limits the rate of wear to the minimum. These can be provided with the charging and discharging systems under normal or inert atmosphere. Any material of construction to suit the application can be provided in flameproof or GMP standards.
